The oven is perhaps the dirtiest place in the kitchen. Grease, dirt, and burnt food residues exposed to high temperatures can be difficult to clean.

Oven doors are especially vulnerable, as popular cleaning products such as baking soda or salt can damage the surface. Experts have shared a simple method to help clean off old grease on the door.

An effective remedy

Clean the oven as it gets dirty, but at least once every three months.

The section that is most susceptible to dirt is the transparent part of the oven door, where grease, oil stains, and burnt residue accumulate over time. One effective product is all it takes to solve this problem.

Experts recommend trying dishwasher tablets. These small oval or rectangular briquettes are made up of chemicals based on detergent and rinse salts that dissolve grease. Additional elements are aimed at softening hard water, disinfecting and dissolving limescale. Phosphates prevent the formation of water stains.

Step-by-step instructions

Tablets will save even the places with the heaviest grease deposits.

  1. Add a little water to the tablet and apply a thick layer of the product to the dirty areas.
  2. You do not need to wipe it off immediately, because the ingredients need to work. Leave the product on for 1-2 hours.
  3. Carefully remove grease with a damp sponge.
  4. Wash the surface with a clean sponge and water and wipe dry with cloths.

The enzymes in the dishwasher tablets can break down protein and starch molecules to help remove grease. On oven glass, the tablets will break down stubborn dirt and food residue.
