Nissan to revive low-cost model to rival Toyota and Honda
Nissan wants to bring back into production an inexpensive model "for the soul", which will please buyers with a bright design and will compete with the new sports cars of Toyota and Honda. This model is known to many as the Silvia sports coupe. More than 20 years ago, this car was removed from the model lineup, and now it has become known about the revival.
This is reported by Motor1. There are no exact details about the car, but the company has already started talking about the return of the Nissan Silvia to the model lineup. Although the sports car segment (outside of expensive supercars) has been stagnant lately, a revival is now coming.
More and more automakers are working on their lower and mid-price segment sports cars. Some are recalling the big names of the past, and that's what will happen with the Silvia.
It's not uncommon today for manufacturers to join development efforts with interested partners. Sportcars are a niche segment, so they have to save money.
Potential rivals for the next generation Nissan Silvia are the new Toyota Celica and Honda Prelude. These forgotten names will also soon return to the market.
