Never underestimated: Ukraine will play with the sensation of Euro-2024 qualifying

Oleksandr ChekanovNews
Ukrainians will play Moldova for the sixth time

Ukraine's national football team will play three friendly matches ahead of the 2024 European Championship. One of the opponents of the Blue and Yellow team will be Moldova, which has emerged as one of the main surprises of the qualifying tournament for the continental championship.

This information comes from the official website of the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF). The match is scheduled for June 11 at the Zimbru Stadium in the capital, Chisinau, and will be the sixth meeting between the two teams. Interestingly, Ukraine has never won against Moldova on their home ground. Our national team has drawn twice there (2:2 and 0:0).

Moldova demonstrated sensational results in the qualifying Group E, where its opponents were Albania, Poland, the Czech Republic, and the Faroe Islands. Our neighbors were in contention for the Euros until the very end but lost the decisive match away to the Czech Republic (0:3). The main achievement of the Moldovan team was an impressive home victory over Poland, with the goal scored by the former Ukrainian player Vyacheslav Baboglo.

As a reminder, the Ukrainian national team needs to go through the playoffs to reach the finals of the 2024 European Championship in Germany. On March 21, the Blue and Yellow will play an away match against Bosnia and Herzegovina in the semifinals. In case of victory in four days, Serhii Rebrov's team will compete for a ticket to the championship against the winner of the pair Israel - Iceland.

As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, a fake lineup of the Ukrainian national team for the match against Bosnia and Herzegovina was published online. The list surprised Serhii Rebrov's coaching staff.
