European airline Ryanair has warned passengers traveling over Christmas about a number of special rules. They relate to baggage recommendations that are especially relevant during the holidays.

This is reported by the Daily Mail. The company has published a list of things that are prohibited to be carried in hand luggage.

According to Ryanair representatives, some "seemingly innocent" party supplies can pose a threat when it comes to flights. Others can cause problems when passing through airport security.

Christmas firecrackers

The airline has warned that Christmas crackers are prohibited, in part because they fall into the same category as fireworks and sparklers. As such items are considered explosive and flammable, they pose a risk to the safety of passengers, crew, and the aircraft.

Toy guns

It may seem obvious, but Ryanair has asked its customers to avoid carrying any toys that look like weapons. Items such as plastic, water pistols, slingshots, darts, and sports bats should not be put in your carry-on luggage.

Wrapped gifts

The company warns: "Don't waste time wrapping gifts to put in your carry-on bag. Airport security personnel can open, search, and inspect wrapped items."

Fragile items

While you can of course put fragile items in your luggage, Ryanair advises travelers to wrap them in bubble wrap and then thick clothing.

Valuables

The airline has advised passengers to pack valuables in their carry-on luggage. The website reads: "Take all valuables on the plane by putting them in a smaller carry-on bag (the one you can hide under the seat in front of you)."
