Netizens confused by the video of jellyfish UFO, but scientists have an "earthly" explanation
A video of an unidentified flying object, which users called a jellyfish UFO, has appeared on the Internet. The mysterious object was filmed over an American military base in Iraq.
The video was posted on the Youtube channel of journalist Jeremy Corbell. According to him, the video was made back in October 2018 but only now has it come into his hands.
The video, of course, was immediately discussed by the online UFO community but users did not find any consensus on what exactly could have been on the video. Some assumed that the video was taken by some kind of drone, possibly of entirely terrestrial manufacture, while others noted that the object in the video looked more like a creature than any kind of machine.
Corbell later posted a photo of another unidentified flying object, which the network called a chandelier UFO.
The Pentagon has not yet responded to the video and photo but it is interesting that it comes amid a new wave of interest in UFOs and after secret hearings in Congress in January.
NewsNation, citing Marine Corps officer Michael Cincoski, said that the military nicknamed the jellyfish UFO the "spaghetti monster" and that the sighting took place in late 2017, not 2018.
According to Cinkoski, the footage was taken from an aerostat, a large balloon equipped with video cameras that flew over the base to detect any possible threats in advance.
The soldier said that he saw the full video of the object and that it eventually flew away, flew over a lake near the base and simply disappeared over the horizon. But Cinkoski denies the possibility that the object took off into the sky or fell into the same lake, as claimed online.
He also said that the military themselves had calmly observed the object and did not see it as a threat or of possible extraterrestrial origin.
"It ended up being a ghost base story," Cincoski summarized.
Critics, however, say that both the "jellyfish" and the "chandelier" have much simpler explanations than alien theories.
"The chandelier UFO appears to be a diffraction artifact. Essentially, it is a glare from a very bright/hot source, such as a rocket engine," says writer and UFO debunker Mick West.
As for the jellyfish UFO, according to West, it could have been two different spherical objects moving at a distance of about 12 kilometers from each other. He also added that the fact that the speed of their movement was consistent with the speed of the wind was a confirmation that they were some kind of balloons.
He also ruled out the possibility that the jellyfish UFO is just dirt on the camera lens as the object changes its size and position relative to the cross-shaped "sight" in the center of the frame.
