Cillian Murphy's fans have finally waited - the sequel to the series "Peaky Blinders" will be released. The first season of the gangster story was released in 2013. The crime drama series depicts the life of the Shelby family in Birmingham in the 1920s.

"Peaky Blinders" returns to Netflix. Cillian Murphy will reprise the role of Birmingham gangster Tommy Shelby in the continuation of the cult series.

The cast promises to be stellar:

  • Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer, A Quiet Place);
  • Rebecca Ferguson (Dune, Mission Impossible);
  • Barry Keoghan (Saltburn, Banshee of Inisherin).

"It seems Tommy Shelby is not done with me yet. It's a pleasure to be working with Steven Knight and Tom Harper again," commented Cillian Murphy.

The film will be an epic sequel to the six-season gangster saga, which has won numerous awards, including a BAFTA. The film is set in Birmingham between 1919 and 1934. The Peaky Blinders series tells the story of the rise and fall of the Shelby family and their lives in a world of radical social, economic and political change.

The film will be directed by Tom Harper, who has already served in this position when he worked on the first season episodes in 2013.

The last season was released in 2022. The meticulous approach to menswear has sparked a fashion craze, and Leo Woodall of One Day has cited the show as a key source of inspiration. "I was watching Peaky Blinders and I put on a Peaky Blinders hat and thought: 'I want to be an actor,'" he told Netflix.

The last time we saw Tommy Shelby in the season 6 finale, he was riding a white horse, intent on starting a new life.

The plot of the new movie is still under wraps, but Knight emphasized that it will be an explosive chapter in the history of "Peaky Blinders".
