Outer Banks is an American adventure television series that premiered on Netflix on April 15, 2020. The first season was quite successful, so it was renewed.

The plot tells the story of teenagers who find a map after a devastating hurricane and go in search of a legendary treasure. Sadly, Netflix announced that Outer Banks will end with the fifth season.

John B and his three friends go in search of a treasure related to John's missing father. The main action takes place on an island whose inhabitants are divided into two groups - the rich (kooks) and the poor (pogues).

The future is at stake. In the second season, Pope, Kiara, and JJ are looking for ways to prove their best friend's innocence in the murder of Sheriff Peterkin, while Sarah and John B are trying to escape from a serious threat in the Bahamas.

The adventures continued in the Caribbean and far beyond, as the friends tried to find the legendary lost city.

The Season 4 finale, which is the first feature-length episode of the show, "sets the stage for an epic fifth and final season," said the series creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate and Shannon Burke.

The story began when they came across a photo of teenagers on the beach at dusk during a power outage.

"That photo sparked an idea for a story of four best friends who only want to have a good time all the time. From this beginning, we imagined a mystery that would lead to a five-season journey of adventure, treasure hunting, and friendship. From there, P4L was born," the statement reads.

Currently, the writers are in the midst of working on the plot of season 5.

The fourth season of Outer Banks debuted at No. 1 on the Global Top 10 English TV chart upon its release on October 10 and remained in the top 10 for three weeks, reaching the top 10 in 74 countries.

"We’ve always known from the beginning what the last scene would be," said Josh Pate.
