Gilmore Girls series by Amy Sherman-Palladino has survived 7 seasons and 4 special episodes, leaving a huge mark in the hearts of fans thanks to witty dialogues and well-developed relationships between the characters. And for those who miss this atmosphere, Netflix streaming has something to offer.

The platform's blog has a selection of 9 TV series and feature films that you can watch right now. All of them tell about female friendship, school years, romance, and warm relationships between characters.

Ginny & Georgia

The characters in the series describe each other as looking like Gilmore Girls, but with bigger busts. And while the parallels between the two shows are quite striking, Ginny & Georgia offers its own special, engaging blend of intrigue and black humor that gives the classic (and perhaps not so healthy) mother-daughter relationship a 2020s twist. Two seasons are available on Netflix and two more are on the way.

Virgin River

When Mel Monroe arrives in the town of Virgin River, California, she wants a fresh start. The nurse and midwife from Los Angeles is dealing with a personal tragedy and wants to rebuild her life in a new place where no one knows her. It turns out that staying anonymous is not so easy when you are a new person in a city where everyone knows everyone. Gloomy Virgin River has all the charm of the small town of Stars Hollow, but it also has a criminal nature. You'll also want to trade Luke's coffee for Jack's whiskey, the charming local bar owner played by Martin Henderson. And you'll also want to plunge into his romance with the main character.

My Life with the Walter Boys

This coming-of-age story follows 15-year-old Jackie Howard, who is forced to leave her life in Manhattan behind after losing her family in a horrific accident. Jackie moves across the country to live with her mother's best friend, Katherine Walter. The women met in college, but now Katherine lives in the small town of Silver Falls, Colorado. Just like Rory, Jackie has a big goal - she's a straight-A student and determined to get into Princeton. Over time, the heroine learns that life in a small town has its charms, and in fact, she shares a roof with two of them. We are talking about Katherine's sons, the smart Alex and the troubled teenager Cole.

Sweet Magnolias

If you like magical towns, this series is for you. The show focuses on three best friends who call themselves the Sweet Magnolias: Maddie is a recently divorced mother of three, Helen is an ambitious lawyer, and Dana Sue is an outstanding chef. The friends support each other as they build their personal lives, relationships, and careers in Serenity, South Carolina. Plus, they join forces professionally to open a spa, just like best friends Lorelai and Sookie St. James, who start a business together by opening the Dragonfly Inn in Gilmore Girls.

Maid

If Gilmore Girls was an eccentric comedy about family relationships, Maid explores their dramatic side. Based on Stephanie Land's touching memoir Maid: Hard Work, Low Pay, and a Mother's Will to Survive, this mini-series explores the economic realities of single mothers and the difficult paths of such women who do everything they can to give love to their daughters. The series stars real-life mother and daughter Margaret Qualley and Andie MacDowell.

The Chair

Some of the most entertaining stories in Gilmore Girls can be seen in seasons 4-7, when the show focused on Rory's student life at Yale. The 2021 miniseries The Chair is another witty look at academic life. Sandra Oh plays the main character here. She embodies an English professor who has just been appointed head of the department. However, her career is jeopardized by her unhelpful boyfriend. It is both a sweet portrait and a brutal analysis of campus life. The role of David Duchovny, who plays an insanely hypertrophied version of himself, is a particular highlight of the series.

Always Be My Maybe

Chemistry between characters is probably the most important ingredient in any romantic comedy. You can't fake it, and Randall Park and Ali Wong deliver it perfectly in the movie Always Be My Maybe. Wong and Park (who also co-wrote the screenplay with Michael Golamco) play two childhood friends who reunite after years of separation. Have they changed enough to see each other as potential romantic partners? The clarification of the relationship between the characters is well embellished by the appearance of Keanu Reeves as Keanu Reeves.

Never Have I Ever

The creators Mindy Kaling and Lang Fisher have written not just another show about growing up in high school. It is based on Kaling's own teenage years. The series tells the story of a high school student, Davy, who, along with her friends, is trying to successfully graduate from high school and maybe even have sex. It explores aspects of growing up without shying away from teenage sexuality, sexual identity, and dealing with grief.

Set It Up

One of the most striking features of Gilmore Girls was the relationship between the main characters and their fiancés. The show draws heavily on the legacy of romantic comedies, from the Howard Hawks films of the 1950s to the peak of the genre in the 1990s. The 2018 film Set It Up is a glorious throwback to that golden age. Directed by Claire Scanlon, it tells the story of two very attractive assistants, Harper (Zoe Deutch) and Charlie (Glen Powell), who are trying to set up a date for their workaholic bosses (Lucy Liu and Taye Diggs). The screenplay by Katie Silberman (Booksmart, Don't Worry Darling) is full of jokes and chemistry and will delight fans of the rom-com genre.
