Mostly Christmas movies: what Ukrainians watch on Netflix right now

Movies always help to create a Christmas mood at the end of a gray and cold November. That is why streaming services start publishing such content about a month before the holiday.

And it seems that Ukrainians are already actively taking advantage of the opportunity to cheer themselves up and give themselves a little bit of Christmas magic. According to the latest Netflix rankings, several holiday premieres have already made it to the top of the week.

Thus, the first place in Ukraine in terms of views is occupied by the new romantic comedy Meet Me Next Christmas. It tells the story of a woman named Layla who lives in New York. She has two desires: to meet the man of her dreams again and to attend the Pentatonix Christmas concert. However, all tickets to the event are already sold out.

The second place is occupied by a Christmas comedy too, and it is also a premiere - Hot Frosty. The main character of the film, a widow named Kathy, magically brings a snowman to life. His innocence helps her heal and find love again. Although hey get closer before the holidays, he is doomed to melt.

The Ukrainian mystical horror The Witch. Revenge comes next. It tells the story of Olena, who loses her beloved after the invasion of the Russian occupiers. In order to avenge him, she regains the witch's powers she once renounced.

The fourth place is taken by the Finnish action movie Sisu, which takes place in Lapland in 1944. The protagonist is a gold digger who accidentally encounters a Nazi unit.

The family animated film The Super Mario Bros. Movie is in the top five. This is a feature-length adaptation of the popular video game series. The plot is unchanged - the charismatic mustachioed plumber Mario is trying to save his beloved Princess Peach.

Next is the Swedish drama Let Go. In the story, Stella and Gustav's family is on the verge of collapse. In order to save their marriage, the woman organizes a joint trip to attend a dance competition in which her daughter is participating.

The French fantasy family comedy Family Pack is in the seventh place. It tells the story of a large family whose members have become strangers to each other. But one day, a board game throws them back to the Middle Ages and they have to survive among the invasion of fantastic monsters. The main star of the movie is Jean Reno.

Next is the youth sci-fi slasher Time Cut. Lucy, a high school student, suddenly finds herself in the year 2003. In order not to waste time, she decides to stop the serial killer who took her sister's life.

The ninth place is occupied by a romantic comedy Leap Year starring Amy Adams. Anna, whom she plays, decides to take advantage of an ancient custom and goes to her lover on February 29 to propose. However, a meeting with a handsome hotel owner makes her change her mind.

The top ten is rounded out by the romantic comedy Merry Christmas. The screenplay was inspired by the song by Wham! - Last Christmas, in which the hero tells how he gave his heart to his beloved for the holidays. Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke plays the lead role.
