Mitsubishi wants to strengthen its position in the SUV and electric car segments, so it is preparing a new low-cost crossover. To the surprise of potential buyers, the car will be an almost complete copy of the Nissan model.

The details are reported by Automotive News. American dealers have been informed that the new Mitsubishi crossover will go on sale in 2026. This means that it is a global model that will most likely also appear in Europe too.

It will be based on the new 3rd generation Nissan Leaf, which will premiere in 2025. This car will be made in the style of the 2021 Nissan Chill-Out concept. So, we have an idea of the appearance of the Mitsubishi electric car.

Nissan Chill-Out.

This is unusual because recently there has been some uncertainty in the relationship between Mitsubishi and Nissan. Earlier, Honda and Nissan announced the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU). In fact, they consolidated their cooperation with the prospect of further merging into a larger company.

Against this backdrop, everyone was interested in the views of Mitsubishi, which is in an alliance with Nissan and Renault. Mitsubishi initially joined the alliance as an observer. Now it is reported that the manufacturer is not interested in participating at all, although the company has not yet commented on this.
