Mazda MX-5 and RX-7 models have a future. The company is preparing a new inexpensive model of the sports segment that will surprise customers. Some details have emerged about the car.

The details are reported by Motor1. The Mazda Iconic SP concept is a bold prototype that was demonstrated at the Japan Mobility Show in 2023. At the time, many people perceived the car as a show car only: a beautiful but unrealistic.

The car's designer, Masashi Nakayama, noted that the Mazda Iconic SP was originally developed with the prospect of production. Obviously, the new Japanese sports car will look similar. And this is good news.

However, information about a specific car is still being withheld. It is not known whether it is a new MX-5 or RX-7. The size of the concept is closer to the second car, but Nakayama emphasized that the design of the car can be easily scaled to the size of a compact MX-5 roadster.

The new Mazda, competing in the sports segment, will traditionally be cheaper than BMW and Mercedes rivals. Interestingly, against this background, Toyota and Honda have also decided to develop some sports cars with a decent price.
