"Mavka" in the tops. The most profitable films for Ukraine in 2023 have been named

In 2023, numerous films were released that were produced long before Russia's full-scale invasion. Fueled by an increased interest in domestic productions and the aim to contribute to the budget, many Ukrainians preferred films funded by the Ukrainian State Film Agency, ultimately aiding the state in earning UAH 31.4 million.

This figure is 4.5 times higher than in 2022. However, such successes are not anticipated in the future due to the significant challenges of producing comprehensive projects during a full-scale war. Forbes magazine calculated that the animated film "Mavka. The Forest Song" brought the most significant profit to Ukraine.

The report was compiled based on data collected over the first 10 months of 2023, from January 1 to October 16, 2023.

"Mavka" has set a record for its prolonged presence in theaters. The film was released in March 2023 and maintained a spot in the cinema schedule for many months.

This enabled 1.2 million people to watch the cartoon, and the state earned UAH 12.4 million. It should be noted that UAH 49.5 million was allocated to finance the romantic comedy.

The historical film "Dovbush" also lived up to expectations, with the state investing 65 million hryvnias and earning 1.9 million hryvnias. The premiere took place on August 24, but the film continues to be shown in theaters.

The film "Luxembourg, Luxembourg" also demonstrated positive results. With an allocation of 20 million, it managed to earn 6.3 million hryvnias.

The report indicates that the overall box office receipts as of October 16 were as follows:

"Mavka. The Forest Song" - UAH 155,696,733.

"Dovbush - UAH 61,966,435.

"Luxembourg, Luxembourg - UAH 34,343,584.

"Pamfir" - UAH 11,649,879.

"Big Walk" - UAH 11,324,260.

The remaining films generated less than 5 million hryvnias, which is still a commendable but not a remarkable result.
