"Majestic, pretentious, but cautious": how the premiere of Gladiator II started, which even the king watched

Recently, the premiere of Gladiator II, a sequel to the legendary 2000 action movie Gladiator, took place. Film critics have already shared their impressions, and even King Charles III of England came to watch the new part.

On Rotten Tomatoes, many moviegoers have already shared their impressions, and the rating of Gladiator II reaches 75% out of 100%. Ukrainians are also pleased with the movie. Thus, the social network X has already begun to comment on the film.

"I watched Gladiator II. A great, majestic, pretentious, but still carefully crafted movie. Ridley Scott can still do it," commented one of the viewers.

Ridley Scott is a director who worked on the first and second parts of Gladiator. He also has such masterpieces as: "Alien, Blade Runner, All the Money in the World, Napoleon, etc.

Even King Charles III attended the film's premiere. He timed the event to coincide with the centenary of the Film and Television Charitable Organization. Before watching the movie, the king talked to the director and the actors who played the main roles: Paul Mescal, Connie Nielsen, and Pedro Pascal.

However, foreign film critics are not satisfied with the sequel to Gladiator and accuse the director of "relying too much on nostalgia for the original."

What "Gladiator II" is about

"Gladiator II: is a sequel to the 2000 film of the same name and tells the story of Lucius, the son of Lucilla. This film depicts an adult Lucius who returns to Rome. However, there he will be enslaved and become a gladiator. Lucius has to fight in the arena with other soldiers and animals in front of hundreds of people. In order to dilute the plot, the director added new battle scenes, including sea battles and fights with exotic animals.

Lucius's task will be to win glory in the Colosseum to return Rome to its former glory and defeat the emperors who conquered his home.
