The goalkeeper gave an interview to the Spanish press

Ukraine's goalkeeper Andriy Lunin gave a frank interview to the Spanish newspaper Marca, where he spoke about his absence in the 2nd match of his team at Euro 2024. The Real Madrid goalkeeper conceded 3 goals in the first game against Romania, after which head coach Serhiy Rebrov placed him on reserve during the second round.

Lunin admitted that he had not spoken to Serhiy about this topic, but he fully realizes that he is partly to blame for the defeat.

"I fully understand it's my fault, but we are a team, it's not my personal business. The most important thing is the overall result. Do I believe I will play in the next match? I keep working, I'm ready as always. If I have to play, am I ready to explain anything to the coach? There was no need for that at the moment," Rebrov said.

As reported, in the 1st round, the Yellow and Blues sensationally lost to one of the weakest participants in the championship, Romania, in the first match of Group E with a score of 0: 3. Commenting on the result, Lunin admitted that it is very difficult to come back after such unsuccessful matches.

In the second round, our team showed character and pulled out a strong-willed victory over Slovakia with a score of 2-1.

Going into the third round, Ukraine has three points and retains great chances of reaching the playoffs.

In the third round, Rebrov's team will play against Belgium on June 26.
