Like new: how to perfectly clean a chrome sink and faucet
Chrome surfaces add elegance and style to a kitchen interior. But their beauty can be marred by water stains, soap residue, and other hard-to-recover dirt.
Sometimes it may seem impossible to keep chrome faucets and sinks looking good. But Martha Stewart has shared some tips that will change your mind.
In fact, keeping chrome faucets and sinks in perfect condition is quite easy if you have the right tools, namely:
- Dish soap;
- Vinegar;
- Microfiber cloth;
- A non-scratching sponge.
How often to clean the chrome faucet and sink
As with any other surface, the more often you clean chrome sinks, the easier the process will be. In places where people use the sink frequently, it should be cleaned one to three times a week, depending on the amount of dirt.
However, if you want a perfect result, free of fingerprints and deposits, you need to take a few minutes to wipe down the faucet and sink every day.
Dishwashing detergent
Dish soap is a great choice for cleaning chrome because it is affordable and very effective. However, only soft sponges should be used, as abrasive products can leave scratches.
After you have applied the foaming cleaner and wiped off all the stains, use a clean, dry microfiber cloth and buff the chrome to bring back its shine.
Vinegar
Vinegar is a simple and affordable cleaner that can be used on many surfaces in your home.
To clean chrome surfaces, first prepare a solution consisting of equal parts water and white vinegar.
Dampen a soft cloth in the mixture and slowly wipe the faucet and sink so that the acid has time to break down mineral deposits. In the end, simply rinse off the solution with water and dry the surface with a soft cloth or napkin so that the drops do not leave limescale stains again.
