Kyivstar suffered a large-scale disruption: when communication will be resumed and will subscribers be compensated

On the morning of December 12, the Kyivstar mobile operator experienced a large-scale outage. Subscribers claimed that the network was down, and when they tried to call, they heard the answer "mobile network is unavailable."

It is worth noting that Kyivstar's official website and the mobile operator's app are also unavailable. OBOZ.UA readers report that problems with the mobile operator's work are observed throughout the country.

Problems with Kyivstar's mobile communication started in the morning. Some subscribers have no connection. At the same time, some Kyivstar users reported on social media that their smartphones were showing "all connection bars" but it was impossible to call or receive a call.

Around noon, Infrastructure Minister Oleksandr Kubrakov said that Kyivstar subscribers would experience communication problems for another 4-5 hours. Thus, the network is expected to be restored around 16.00-17.00 on December 12.

Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko noted that people who were left without mobile communications and the Internet can seek urgent assistance at the nearest police department or fire and rescue station. There they can contact their relatives or call emergency services.

The Interior Minister also noted that one can ask for help from the National Guard, police and border guards who serve in settlements and on highways. In addition, Klymenko reminded that the "Points of Invincibility" deployed on the basis of the Ministry of Internal Affairs units have the opportunity to use Wi-Fi.

Kyivstar stated that it would definitely compensate subscribers who had no connection or could not use the operator's services. They also assured that the personal data of subscribers was not compromised.

At the same time, Kyivstar TV's OTT service is working without any problems on Android and iOS operating systems. Other services of the company remain unavailable as of 7:40 am.

While Kyivstar mobile operator is unavailable, Ukrainians are offered to use national roaming (the service is free). In the mobile network settings on the gadget, you need to find the "manual network selection" option, and then try to connect to Lifecell or Vodafone. If the network does not appear, you should try to select other networks.

At the same time, there is no absolute guarantee that national roaming will work. This may be due, in particular, to the load on the networks as subscribers switch to available networks.

Around 8 a.m., Kyivstar responded to a large-scale failure in its mobile network. They noted that due to the technical failure, communication and Internet access services may be unavailable to some of their subscribers.

Kyivstar also assured that its specialists are working to fix the problem. At the same time, the operator has not yet provided any information on the timeframe for fixing the problem.

It is worth noting that Kyivstar subscribers were not satisfied with the company's response. In particular, people are surprised that the problems with mobile internet and communication started around 5 a.m., and the company decided to respond only three hours later.

The possible cause of the technical failure is also being discussed online. Some suspect that the problems could have been caused by external interference in the operator's work. In particular, the possibility of a hacker attack on Kyivstar's equipment is not ruled out.

As a reminder, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine confirmed that a SIM card of the Ukrainian operator Kyivstar was found in one of the Iranian kamikaze drones launched by the Russians in Ukraine. Earlier, this information was made public by analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War.

Earlier, it was reported that Kyivstar mobile operator has increased the cost of a number of tariffs since September, both for contract subscribers and prepaid subscribers. At the same time, mobile Internet packages were increased.
