Askold's grave through the years

Askold's Grave is one of the most famous historical sites and tracts in Kyiv. In addition, a prestigious necropolis used to be located here, which was destroyed during the Soviet era.

The old photos were published on one of the Telegram channels. Today, this location is a park of the same name.

"Askold's Grave was once one of the most prestigious cemeteries in Kyiv, which was destroyed by the Soviet authorities. The necropolis began to be formed in the eighteenth century and existed until the early twentieth century. In 1715, the territory near St. Nicholas Church was set aside for a cemetery, first for a monastery, and since 1786, it has been available to all Kyivans," the statement reads.

The cemetery was as important as the Baikove cemetery. Famous Kyivans were buried here, and luxurious crypts and monuments were erected on their graves.
