Ukraine plans to open humanitarian corridors in Kursk region for the evacuation of civilians, both towards the Russian Federation and towards its own territory. Possibly, Russians will be taken to Sumy.

This was announced by Deputy Prime Minister Iryna Vereshchuk. In addition, the defense forces are creating a security zone on the territory of Russia, adjacent to the Ukrainian borders.

"Together with the military we are working out a possible route of a humanitarian corridor for civilians from Kursk region to Sumy. Regarding the humanitarian corridor towards the Russian Federation, there is such a possibility, but on condition of a corresponding official request from the Russian side. So far, such a request has not been received yet," she said.

Vereshchuk said that in order to protect the border regions of Ukraine (primarily Sumy), the Defense Forces are creating a security zone on the territory of Russia adjacent to the Ukrainian borders.

"There are civilian Russians within the said zone. They are under the protection of international humanitarian law, which Ukraine fully respects," the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized.

Therefore, she continued, it is planned to carry out humanitarian operations to support civilians within the specified zone.

Ukrainian troops will allow international humanitarian organizations to enter the specified security zone for the purpose of humanitarian response, as well as monitoring of the humanitarian situation.

Vereshchuk added that appropriate preparations and consultations are being carried out.

We will remind you that on August 13, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that he instructed to prepare a humanitarian plan for the territory of the Kursk region operation.

As reported, dictator Putin told Russians that the Russian army is trying to "knock the enemy out" of Kursk region, and boasted that despite these events, the pace of its offensive on the Ukrainian front "increased by 1.5 times." At the same time, the war criminal demanded from his officials to provide reliable potection of the border with Ukraine.

We will remind you that earlier, the Ukrainian military told WSJ about the details of the breakthrough in the Kursk region. According to the defenders, they "expected tougher resistance" from the so-called second army of the world.

It was also reported that on August 12, Kyiv officially recognized the operation in the Kursk region of the Russian Federation for the first time, and the Commander-in-Chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said that as of that day, the AFU controlled about 1,000 square kilometers in the Kursk region.

Meanwhile, the ISW stated that despite Russian claims, the AFU continues to advance in Kursk region. Meanwhile, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin is trying to shift the responsibility for the situation in this region to Russian military and officials and has already publicly announced his refusal to negotiate with Kyiv.

At the same time, the SSU warned that the enemy could stage crimes against civilians in Kursk region.
