Konoplyanka decided to end his career

Famous Ukrainian footballer Yevhen Konoplyanka has announced the end of his professional career. The Dnipro player decided to hang up his boots on a nail at the age of 34.

Konoplyanka himself announced this in a statement on his Instagram page. The midfielder admitted that football has become more than just a game or sport for him.

"It's a big part of me as a person, a personality and a professional. I love this game very much and appreciate every moment I had to experience while on the football field. But today I have to tell you that I have decided to end my professional career. Therefore, I thank everyone who has come this way with me, everyone who has shared with me the joy of victories and the bitterness of defeats, everyone who has followed me and supported me on and off the field," Konoplyanka said.

He also added that he will continue to engage in scouting work, as well as the development of esports. "I have become the founder of two cool projects that I hope will interest you! A scouting agency for football players, which we founded together with Roman Zozulya. A place where we will help young talented guys realize their dreams. An esports organization. A place where I will fulfill my dream, because I have been fond of computer games for a very long time," Yevhen emphasized.

During his career, Konoplyanka defended the colors of Dnipro, Sevilla, Schalke, Shakhtar, Krakow and Cluj. He became the champion of Ukraine once, won the Europa League and the UEFA Super Cup twice. The native of Kirovohrad (now Kropyvnytskyi) has played 87 matches for the Ukrainian national team, scoring 21 goals.
