Flying cars are usually considered an invention of the distant future. However, many companies around the world are already working on developing new technologies.

Although the creators of the movie "Back to the Future" expected flying cars to appear by 2015, it took a little longer. OBOZ.UA has collected information about flying models that are likely to take over the airspace soon.

Doroni H1

Doroni H1 is a new electric "flying car" that can be driven with a driver's license and after completing a 20-hour training course. It is designed to replace the family car, does not require a runway and is semi-autonomous.

The first deliveries of the model to customers will begin in the fourth quarter of 2024.

XPeng Aeroht

The XPeng Aeroht is a flying car for the real world that looks like a regular car when folded. It is supposed to fly at a fairly low altitude and cover relatively short distances to relieve traffic congestion.

In flight mode, it opens its "wings" and can take off and land on the spot, without a runway.

EH 216-S

The Chinese company eHang has recently announced the launch of the EH 216-S electric drone. The vehicle can carry two people weighing up to 240 kg.

Initially, the electric drone will be used mainly for walking along tourist routes, but perhaps one day it will be possible to safely purchase it for private use.

Samson Sky Switchblade

This model is called the world's first flying sports car. During its first flight, Samson Sky stayed in the air for almost 6 minutes at an altitude of 152 meters.

The Switchblade has a maximum travel speed of 201 km/h and an estimated maximum flight speed of 305 km/h.

Subaru Air Mobility

Subaru presented the Subaru Air Mobility at the Japan Mobility Exhibition in Tokyo. This is a concept of an airborne electric vehicle powered by batteries.

Subaru believes that this model, which is being developed by automotive and aerospace engineers, will take mobility to new heights.

XPeng X2

Xpeng X2 is the world's first flying car that can stay in the air for 35 minutes on a single charge.

It has four propellers, like a helicopter, but on the side, which lift it up. In the future, it is expected to drive on roads as well.

Alef Model A Flying Car

Back in June, the Alef A model received a special airworthiness certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration. It was one of the first flying car variants to receive such a certificate in the United States.

The car is scheduled to enter service in 2026.

ASKA A5

In August, ASKA successfully made its first flight. The car can accommodate up to four passengers and has the shape of an SUV.

The ASKA A5 is powered entirely by electricity, which powers a six-motor powerplant that allows the vehicle to reach a flying speed of nearly 240 km/h

Terrafugia Transition

The Terrafugia Transition received its airworthiness certificate from the FAA in early 2021, although the car began design in 2006. However, shortly after receiving the certificate, the company faced financial difficulties and announced that it would relocate its operations.

There are currently no estimates for launch or mass production, as the company still intends to move its operations to China.
