Jack the Ripper, Chikatilo, and others: what famous serial killers looked like in movies and in real life. Photo.
The names of serial killers terrify those who are even slightly familiar with the crimes they have committed. Often, the stories of such psychopaths become the basis for films and TV series, where viewers are told in a fictional or documentary style about their path to murder and punishment for it.
As a result, the faces of the inhumans are erased from people's memories, and only the images of their heroes remain. OBOZREVATEL decided to show what Jack the Ripper, Chikatilo, and other prisoners who were convicted of mass murder or were not caught actually looked like (to see the photos, scroll to the bottom of the page).
Chikatilo
One of the most notorious Soviet serial killers, a rapist, pedophile, and cannibal who committed more than 50 proven murders between 1978 and 1990 was executed in Novocherkassk prison in 1994. The killer was once played by Dmitry Nagiyev in the TV series of the same name.
Charles Manson
The American serial killer, criminal, and leader of a gang that called itself the Family died in prison in 2017. The role of Manson was played by actor Jeremy Davis in the movie Helter Skelter.
"The Sacramento Vampire"
The American serial killer Richard Chase was nicknamed the "Sacramento Vampire" because he drank the blood of his victims and was known for cannibalism. In 1980, he committed suicide in his prison cell. In the movie Frenzy, actor Alex MacArthur played Charles Reese, whose prototype was Richard Chase.
