Norwegian biathlete Endre Stroemsheim, who won the first individual race of the new World Cup season, will compete in the tournament with a rifle bearing the Ukrainian flag. The 27-year-old athlete from Oslo decided to support our country, which continues to resist Russian aggression.

Stroemsheim said this in a commentary to Suspilne after journalists drew attention to his outfit. The current leader of the overall standings emphasized the importance of supporting Ukraine and was also horrified that the criminal war unleashed by Russia has been going on for more than 1000 days.

"It's terrible that the invasion has been going on for so long. I think it is very important to do everything to support Ukraine. That's why I have the Ukrainian flag in my sights," the Norwegian biathlete explained.

It should be noted that Stroemsheim won the short individual race at the first stage of the World Cup in Kontiolahti. Together with his compatriots Johannes Thingnes Boe and Sturla Laegreid, he was ahead of Ukrainian Vitalii Mandzyn, who sensationally took fourth place.
