The Italian national football team has made it to the playoffs of the 2024 European Championships in Germany in dramatic style. "In the third round of Group B, the Azzurri met the Croatians, who were only satisfied with a victory, and managed to gnaw out a draw in the last minute of the match - 1:1.

In the first half, the teams exchanged incredible saves by the goalkeepers, but failed to score a single goal. The main events in the match unfolded after the break.

In the 54th minute, Croatia's leader and captain Luka Modric missed a penalty kick. The Real Madrid player shot into the bottom corner, but goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma saved the ball.

However, just 40 seconds later, the Croatian veteran managed to get ahead of the defenders after Donnarumma pulled a shot by Croatian forward Ante Budimir - 1-0.

After that, the initiative was completely taken by the Italians. Coach Luciano Spalletti's men beat the wall in front of the opponent's penalty area for 40 minutes and, when it seemed that the champions were going to fail, equalized. Striker Mattia Zaccagni scored a magnificent shot from the penalty area - 1:1.

Thus, the Schiadra Azzurra grabbed second place at the last minute and qualified for the playoffs, where they will play Switzerland on June 29. Croatia can only theoretically reach the 1/8 finals, but two points will not be enough for it by 99%.
