"It can be a tool." Bellew pointed to an unexpected moment with Fury's decision to end his career

The British ex-heavyweight made a frank confession

Former world heavyweight champion Tony Bellew has expressed doubts about the sincerity of Tyson Fury's (34-2-1, 24 KOs) decision to announce his retirement. Bellew suggests that this could be a tactical move to negotiate a fight with Anthony Joshua.

Despite Fury's words, many fans and experts doubt his decision, as this is not the first time he has announced his retirement and then returned. In 2022, he also ended his career after a fight with Dillian Whyte, but returned to the ring to fight Dereck Chisora the same year.

"First of all, if this is true, I wish him all the best in his retirement. Tyson is without a doubt one of the best heavyweights our country has ever known. He should be happy considering what he has accomplished in boxing. However, to be honest, part of me is not so sure. He has already announced his retirement five times. Maybe it's just a tool of pressure in the negotiations for a fight with Joshua. It's hard to say, for sure," givemesport.com quoted Bellew as saying.

In conclusion, Bellew noted Fury's contribution to boxing: "If he is indeed retiring, good luck to him. He gave us amazing evenings and deserves all the praise for his achievements."

As reported by OBOZ.UA, on January 6, former two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) expressed his readiness to fight against Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs).

It should be noted that last year Anthony and Tyson suffered painful defeats. Joshua sensationally knocked out his compatriot Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs), and Fury lost twice to Ukrainian super champion Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs).

At the beginning of the year, Anthony stated that his fight against Tyson should definitely take place during 2025. AJ admitted that he was going to take every opportunity he could to get back in the ring.
