Glib IvanovNews
The film is about how culture became a tool for spreading the "Russian world"

The film "Infected by Culture. Ukraine in search of an antidote to the imperial legacy". The film by Oleh Manchura uses examples from the distant past and recent events to show how culture has become a tool for spreading the Russian world and creating a single cultural space.

The film will premiere on Tuesday, May 7, at 18.00, on Mykola Kniazhytskyi's YouTube channel.

Russian culture was imposed on us as the culture of a superior nation. It was imposed on us as the culture of a superior nation to make us think that Ukrainians are a second-class nation that does not have such cultural achievements.

Moscow has spent and continues to spend a lot of money and resources on a large-scale cultural special operation. The bet is on soft power, but cultural expansion is inevitably followed by tanks. Poets, writers, composers, and singers are the state's colonization tools. This is what unites Pushkin, Tchaikovsky, Bulgakov, Kirkorov, and Baskov.

In the film, historians, sociologists, politicians, musicians, producers, and book publishers discuss the methods by which the "Russian world" was imposed: from the story of the mysterious murder of Ukrainian millionaire Alchevsky and the confrontation between Pushkin and Shevchenko in the 19th century to the replacement of Ukrainian show business with Russian music and the squeezing out of everything Ukrainian from television and radio at the turn of the 2000s.

The film will be aired on Espresso TV channel on Saturday, May 11 at 22.00, and will be repeated on Sunday, May 12 at 7.00.
