Annabelle Morozov and Igor Yeromenko figure skating - Russian figure skaters will change citizenship

Famous Russian figure skaters Annabel Morozov and Igor Eremenko, who perform in ice dancing, have left Russia, as reported by RIA Novosti. According to media reports, they arrived for a scheduled training session with their coach Angelika Krylova but instead of training, they presented her with a bouquet, stating that they had a plane to the United States in three hours.

In the United States, the duo will be supervised by coach Nikolai Morozov, Annabelle's father. The skaters are reportedly considering joining the French national team.

Annabelle Nicole Morozov was born in 2001 in the United States to former ice dancers Nikolai Morozov from Russia and Caroline Douarin from France. She lived in the United States and France throughout her childhood and holds American, French, and Russian citizenship. Since 2016, she has been representing the Russian Federation.

Morozov used to compete with Andrei Bagin. At the 2020 Russian Championships, they came in fourth, the highest place at the event. As a result, they were selected as first alternates for the 2020 World Championships. Together with Bagin, she also became a silver medalist at the 2019 CS Golden Spin of Zagreb championship.

Morozov and Eremenko became a duo after the end of last season. They initially trained in the United States but returned to Russia in the summer to work with coach Angelika Krylova.

It is noted that Morozov and Yeryomenko had plans to change their citizenship about six months ago. From the very beginning, the athletes expected to compete at the Russian Championships and then, if necessary, begin the process of paperwork.

This season, the duo performed a rhythm dance at the Russian Grand Prix in Krasnoyarsk but were forced to withdraw from the free skate due to an injury to their partner, who suffered a deep cut to her leg after a collision with Elizaveta Shanayeva during the warm-up.
