If you're 165 or lower: 5 signs your down jacket is "shortening" your height
It's hard to imagine winter without a down jacket that resembles a cozy blanket. It is lightweight, has excellent thermal insulation and does not get wet. It also goes well with flared jeans, leather pants, midi/maxi dresses, and leggings. The only thing that can ruin the look is the style.
How to understand that outerwear "shortens" your height and visually adds volume? We'll tell you in the OBOZ.UA article and share stylish alternatives.
1. Disproportionate length
Always pay attention to the ratio of your height to the length of the product. Thus, down jackets up to the middle of the thighs "distort" the proportions of the figure: the torso seems longer than the legs. This effect will not happen with models below the knees.
2. Elements made of fur
This refers to the collar, hood, sleeves and pockets with fur. This design technique can hardly be called successful: fluffy details visually add extra volume to different parts of the body, making your figure look unbalanced. What alternative to choose? Minimalist models without fur. A stylish scarf will also do a great job of insulation.
3. Color inserts and unsuccessful material combinations
Down jackets with combinations of different textures and contrasting color inserts "distort" the figure. They visually make the figure look shorter. Instead, take a closer look at monochrome models made of one material. Too simple? Then choose a wool, tweed or leather down jacket.
4. Patch pockets
There are down jackets where the pockets look like they were sewn on last: they are too bulky or have a different color than the rest of the product. Avoid such styles as they weigh down the look and make your legs look "shorter". It is better to wear those with hidden or barely visible pockets.
5. Narrowed or flared cut
These down jackets make the figure look "wider" at the hips. If you like this effect, keep wearing them. If not, replace them with straight-cut models or ones with a belt or waistband.
