Hard water creates deposits on glass, so it's not an easy task to get your glasses to shine. Whether you have hard water stains on glass shower doors, windows, or drink glasses, you can use basic cleaners to remove them.

Experts have shared how to remove hard water stains from glass and prevent streaks. These are simple, effective, and affordable methods.

How to remove hard water stains on glass with vinegar

The acids in distilled white vinegar or fresh lemon juice will help dissolve minerals that leave stains on glass.

Mix one part white vinegar or lemon juice with one part distilled water in a spray bottle and treat the glass surfaces.

You can also fill the sink with the vinegar and water solution and rinse the glasses. Leave them on for 30 minutes, rinse, and dry immediately with a lint-free microfiber cloth.

Baking soda paste

To increase the cleaning power of vinegar, pretreat the surface with baking soda paste.

  • Spray the glass with the vinegar and water solution and let it sit for 30 minutes.
  • Mix one part water with three parts baking soda in a small bowl to make a paste.
  • Apply the paste to the glass in a circular motion using a soft-bristled brush. Use an old toothbrush for corners and small glass objects.
  • Let the paste dry for about 10 minutes and then sprinkle with undiluted vinegar. Wipe the glass to loosen mineral deposits.
  • Rinse the glass and dry it with a microfiber cloth.
