Clogs in the sink are caused by grease, soap, and food residue that settle on the pipe walls. Instead of aggressive chemicals or using a plunger, the problem can be solved with a natural and safe method – soda crystals (sodium carbonate).
OBOZ. UA explains how to do it right.
How to use soda to clean the drain
Soda is a highly alkaline product. It effectively breaks down grease and organic deposits and is safe for pipes and the environment.
How to clean a drain with baking soda:
- Pour boiling water down the drain to soften the blockage.
- Pour 90 g of baking soda (about half a glass).
- Add another portion of boiling water to activate the product.
- Leave on for 30 minutes or longer if the blockage is severe.
- Rinse the drain with hot water.
After that, any blockage will dissolve and the drain will be unobstructed.
