Step 1

Once you have found a parking area, you can start your maneuver. You need to drive parallel to the car in front of the free space. The interval should be at least half a meter.

Turn on your headlights, even if it's daytime, they will be a good guide to determine how close you are to the car in front.

Step 2

Make sure there are no other vehicles in the vicinity and engage the reverse gear. Turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and start driving slowly. Keep an eye on the car behind you through your rearview camera or mirrors.

Keep reversing until the front wheels of your car are aligned with the far rear of the car in front of you. You should be able to see the entire front of the car parked behind you.

Your car should ideally be at an angle of approximately 45 degrees to the parking space.

Step 3

Gradually turn the steering wheel to the left to align the wheels. The driver needs to control the process to avoid hitting other vehicles.

When the edge of the car is next to the bumper of the car in front of you, turn the steering wheel as far as possible to the left and gently continue to reverse.

Step 4

When the car is completely parked, you need to align the wheels and check that the cars next to you have room to back out of the parking lot.

If you are parking on a slope, turn the wheels towards the sidewalk so that in case of brake failure, the car does not drive onto the roadway.
