Amid constant power outages, washing clothes by hand is becoming more and more relevant. Moreover, in summer, we wear a lot of cotton, linen and silk clothes that may require more delicate care.

Experts say that one simple and very affordable tool can facilitate both tasks. OBOZ.UA found out what this product is and how to use it correctly to get the best result.

We are talking about ordinary white vinegar, which is a universal cleaner for everything in the house. If you add it to water during hand washing, it will help protect cotton clothes from shrinkage, preserve the structure of linen and easily clean silk fabric from stains and odors. In addition, vinegar helps to fix the dye in the fabric.

However, experts warn that vinegar should be dosed correctly for hand washing. Excessive amounts of vinegar can damage things due to its high acidity, while a properly calculated dose will remove even deep dirt and soften the fibers.

There is no need to mix the detergent with laundry detergent or gel. Just add 1-2 tablespoons of vinegar during the last, cool rinse. You can also pre-soak by adding a spoonful of vinegar to a basin of water. Vinegar is particularly effective against stubborn stains such as grease, coffee, and grass, so this treatment can make them easier to remove.

And don't be afraid of the specific odor. The vinegar's aroma helps to overpower other odors and freshen up fabrics.

Please note that using this product cannot be an alternative to soap or detergent. However, vinegar will increase the effectiveness of any of your powders, gels, and stain removers, and it can also replace your fabric softener.
