How to make dip manicure that has become a popular alternative to gel polish: it lasts longer and does not require ultraviolet light

ObozrevatelNews
Powder manicure is safer than gel polish

Chips, burns, and thin nails: these are the problems that owners of gel polish manicures often face. In the 90s of the last century, a convenient alternative was created, but it has gained popularity only recently. The dip powder technique not only does not harm nails but also helps to strengthen them.

It differs from the standard coating in that it lasts longer, does not require ultraviolet light, and you can spend up to 40 minutes of your own time creating a manicure. OBOZ.UA has collected interesting information about powder coating and will tell you why it is better than gel polish.

What is dip powder coating?

Dip powder is a manicure method that uses a special powder to strengthen and decorate nails. It was invented by the popular nail company Signature Nail System in the 1990s. The main technique for applying this coating is to dip the nail in a special colored powder. This method is also used in gel polish applications but mostly when decorating nails.

Dip powder vs gel polish

Gel and powder manicures look similar, but there is a huge difference between them.

  1. Dip powder can stay on your nails for up to 4 weeks, while gel polish can last up to 2-3 weeks.
  2. It does not require the use of an ultraviolet lamp. Dip powder dries in a few minutes in the air.
  3. Dip powder does not contain harmful chemicals that can damage the nail plate, so it is safer for nails.

How to do a dip manicure at home in 20 minutes

Before you get to work, you should prepare all the tools:

  • nail polish remover
  • orange stick
  • nail file
  • hand sanitizer or alcohol
  • nail bonder
  • powder
  • resin glue for manicure
  • clear nail polish
  1. Clean your nails with nail polish remover and push back the cuticle.
  2. Apply hand sanitizer or alcohol.
  3. Cover them with the bonder and wait a minute for it to dry.
  4. Carefully apply the resin glue in one layer. Move from the cuticle to the end of the nail. This will create a thicker layer that will protect your nails from chipping.
  5. Dip your finger into the container with powder for a few seconds. Take it out and tap it lightly to get rid of excess powder.
  6. Leave the manicure to dry for a few minutes.
  7. Repeat steps 5-6 for each nail.
  8. When you get the desired result, apply the activator to your nails, and after it dries, apply a clear polish.

A nuance in nail care

Don't forget that powder manicure, like any other, can damage the nail plate, so you should take a month's break between sessions so that your nails can recover.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA told you how to safely remove dip powder from nails at home. It only takes 30 minutes.

If you prefer gel manicure, you can reduce its harm with BIAB technology. And for those who like "natural" nails, we recommend trying Japanese manicure.
