How to get rid of unpleasant odor in a shoe closet: simple method

Shoe closet

It's a time of intense heat and ubiquitous unpleasant odors caused by sweating. A common kitchen ingredient can become the new staple for deodorizing shoe closets.

A variety of sachets or sprays often fill the space with chemical fragrances. Experts explained how baking soda can help protect shoes from unpleasant odors.

An effective ingredient

Baking soda is an alkaline substance, so it is an excellent odor eliminator. The powder not only neutralizes bacteria but also helps to restore the optimal pH level.

There are different ways to use this life hack. You can pour some baking soda directly inside the shoe: this is a simple choice that will quickly solve the problem. However, even though it will save you some time, it is not that easy to get all the abrasive particles out of the sole.

How to use it

Instead of pouring baking soda into your shoes, add it to a fresh, unused coffee filter to create a sachet. Tie the edges with a rubber band or string, or simply twist to keep the bag from opening. Put the sachets inside your boots and leave them in for a while.

You can add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the baking soda, or try using a regular sock as an alternative to sachets. Baking soda deodorizes, and the oils will add the desired scent, which will make your shoes and shoe closet smell fresh.

Tea tree, citrus, and eucalyptus scents are ideal. Tea tree will work with baking soda as an antiseptic to get rid of bacteria, while eucalyptus also has antibacterial properties. Citrus fruits quickly neutralize unpleasant odors.
