How to cook pearled barley deliciously so that everyone eats it: the perfect dish for lunch
Pearled barley is a rather underrated product. It is added to cabbage soup or pickle, and is rarely used as an independent side dish. But it's a shame, because you can make a full meal out of pearl barley.
The idea of cooking delicious pearled barley for lunch was published on the Instagram page of food blogger Liliya with the nickname liliya.cooking. If you use the following technique, everyone will love the dish.
Ingredients:
- pearl barley - 300 g
- meat - 900 g (I use pork neck)
- onion - 2 pcs.
- carrots - 3 pcs.
- salt, pepper
- paprika
- dry garlic
- oil
- tomato paste - 1 tbsp
- water (boiling water) - 900 ml.
Method of preparation:
1. Rinse the cereal and cover with water for 30 minutes.
2. Meanwhile, wash the meat, cut into small pieces and fry in vegetable oil until golden brown, add onions and diced carrots.
3. Add salt, pepper, sweet paprika, dry garlic, tomato paste and fry for 10 minutes.
4. Add the cereal and pour boiling water over it.
5. Stir and simmer over low heat for an hour under the lid.
