He won the UEFA Cup: ex-footballer of the national team of Ukraine died

Oleksandr ChekanovNews
Bohdan Shershun was 42 years old

Former footballer of Dnipro, Kyiv's Arsenal, Lutsk's Volyn and Kryvbas Kryvyi Rih, Bohdan Shershun, has died at the age of 43. The native of Khmelnytskyi played as a defender and won the 2004/05 UEFA Cup with CSKA Moscow.

This was announced on his Instagram page by well-known journalist Ihor Tsyhanyk. "Bodia, what a guy. Always smiling, sincere. This is how I will remember you, my friend! RIP..." he wrote. He did not say anything about the cause of death of his colleague on the Profootball program.

Volodymyr Zverov, a colleague of Tsyhanyk's, is also shocked by the ex-footballer's death on his Telegram channel: "It's very hard. Bohdan Shershun is gone." In his comments, he clarified that the former athlete had been ill for a long time.

Shershun is a graduate of the Dnipro Football Academy, where he began his professional career. After five seasons with the Blue-White-and-Blue, Bohdan was invited to CSKA Moscow. In the 2004/05 season, he won the UEFA Cup with the Russian team, after which he returned to his home club.

The Ukrainian finished his career in the summer of 2014, having played a year at Volyn Lutsk. He played four matches for the Ukrainian national team. After his retirement, he worked as a TV expert.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, former Shakhtar Donetsk and Chornomorets Odesa midfielder Oleksiy Hai ridiculously justified his refusal to wear a T-shirt in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine before one of the UPL matches.
