Olga Harlan, the most titled athlete in the history of Ukraine, admitted that after the 2012 Olympic Games she was offered to change her citizenship and play for the Russian national team. As an incentive, our fencer was promised "big money".

"Any specific amounts? I don't remember, to be honest. I remember that I didn't even think about it. I said: "No, I can't do it". The main thing is that I can't be against my team. I didn't have the idea that I was going to fence there, it was just business - no, I can't do it. I want to be at home, I want to be in Ukraine and represent our country. That's it," Harlan said in an interview with Anatoliy Anatoliyovych on the Ze Interviewer YouTube channel.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Olga Harlan won gold in the final of the 2024 Olympic Games in team sabre fencing, becoming the sixth Ukrainian athlete to win an Olympic medal. This made her the most titled Ukrainian athlete in the history of our country's performances at the Olympics.
