Source: Created with the help of AI

It is becoming more and more common for attackers to gain access to personal information on gadgets, social networks, or bank cards. The reason is usually a password that is too simple.

Experts say that some combinations can be cracked by experienced hackers in a matter of seconds. Experts conducted a study to determine the most popular passwords in the world.

NordPass analysts, together with NordStellar, reviewed and analyzed a 2.5 TB database obtained from various publicly available sources. No personal data was obtained or purchased for this research.

The experts categorized the data to allow for country-by-country analysis. The focus was only on statistical information, so no personal data of Internet users was included in this study.

"We analyzed passwords that were stolen by malware or revealed as a result of a data breach," the study says.

In most cases, they were leaked with email addresses, which made it possible to distinguish between corporate and personal credentials by domain name.
