Fury lost half of the fee for the fight with Usyk: what is the reason

Oleksandr ChekanovNews
Fury earned a record fee for the fight with Usyk

Former world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury (34-1-1, 24 KOs) will receive only a little more than half of his fee for his fight against Oleksandr Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs) on May 18. The whole problem lies in the tax laws of the UK, because of which the Gypsy King lost several tens of millions of euros.

It is reported by Yahoo News regarding the Stocklytics portal. Fury was guaranteed 100 million pounds of prize money (118 million euros). The boxer is obliged to pay almost 45 million pounds (51.15 million euros) in income tax. Another two million from Tyson's account went to national insurance.

Thus, the British heavyweight's net fee amounted to 53 million pounds (62.6 million euros). It is noted that UK residents are obliged to pay taxes equally for both domestic and foreign income.

Fury and Usyk will rematch on December 21. We already know the fantastic prize money for the second fight. Two weeks ago, our compatriot gave up the International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt and lost the title of absolute world champion.

Later it became known that the IBF left Usyk no choice. This situation angered the head of the Absolute Fighting Championship (IBF), Dana White.

The Ukrainian also announced his radical plan to continue his career after the rematch with Tyson. Usyk named the most difficult moment of the fight with the Briton. Our boxer also spoke frankly about his opponent.
