To remove makeup from the face, we use a lot of special products - remover, foams, gels, micellar water, wipes. However, cosmetics can also end up on clothes, making it very difficult to wash.

For example, waterproof mascara does not wash off well even in hot water, and many cosmetic products contain fats that leave marks on textiles. The most effective tips on how to get rid of makeup marks on clothes were reported by InStyle.

Liquid products

Liquid-based products such as foundation, concealer, or highlighter are well removed with shaving foam. Take the item on which the liquid cosmetics have been spilled, scrape off as much as you can with a spoon, and then apply a decent amount of colorless shaving foam and leave it on for five to ten minutes. It is important not to wash it off immediately. Remove this cleaner with cold water, and then wash the item in the usual way. If necessary, the procedure should be repeated. If you don't have shaving foam on hand, you can use dishwashing detergent, baking soda, or hairspray.

Creamy products

Creamy texture is one of the most popular in cosmetics. It is used for foundations, blush, highlighter, and concealer. To get rid of such stains, take a bowl, pour in a quarter cup of warm water, add 1-2 tablespoons of liquid detergent and a few drops of a liquid to remove. Apply this solution to your clothes with a sponge. However, do not rub the fabric so as not to push the pigment deeper. As it gets wet, the cosmetic product will begin to dissolve.

Creamy lipsticks are more pigmented, so they need to be removed with alcohol. Moisten a cotton pad with the product and gently blot the stain until it disappears. If you are working with colored or delicate fabrics, do a test on an inconspicuous area first to avoid ruining your clothes.

Powdered products

If you spill powder, dry blush, or eyeshadow on your clothes, immediately treat the item with a strong jet of air from a hair dryer. However, use the cool setting. If powder residue is still visible on the fabric, do not rub it off. Instead, blot the stain with a stain remover or any other prewash product. Leave it on for 5 minutes and then wash the item as usual.

How to prevent makeup stains

If you don't want to leave traces of makeup on the clothes you wear out in public, especially on holiday clothes, never do makeup while putting on these items. Do it while you're still in your pajamas or a home t-shirt. If you can't wear makeup in this way, protect your clothes by throwing a towel over them or putting a robe on top.
