Europe, rich in cultural treasures, historical monuments, and developed infrastructure, is often associated with expensive resorts and luxury hotels. However, this continent also hides another, no less charming side - places with unspoiled nature that offer great opportunities for recreation without significant costs.

If you are looking for a relaxing and harmonious vacation, pay attention to the northwestern peninsula of Sardinia. The Guardian has told you where you can find unpolluted, free beaches and crystal clear waters .

Choosing the perfect vacation spot can be difficult, especially if you want to avoid crowds and enjoy natural scenery. However, among the numerous European resorts, there are places where you can find harmony and tranquility.

One of these places is Sardinia, an Italian island known for its breathtaking scenery and unrivaled beaches. However, one of the most popular of these, La Pelosa, has fallen victim to its success through millions of social media posts.

Although the beach is famous for its white sand and turquoise water, its popularity has led to it being overwhelmed by visitors. Nowadays, you even need to book a ticket in advance.

However, there are many other, lesser-known, but no less beautiful vacation spots in northwestern Sardinia. The free beaches of Lazzareto and Le Bombardier, located near the town of Alghero, offer excellent conditions. There is soft and clean sand and bars where you can have a snack and a drink.

And the picturesque beach, Porto Ferro, impresses with its amber sands and is ideal for picnics and sunset swims.

For those who want to immerse themselves in the wilderness, the island of Asinara is a real find. It was a prison until 1997 and is now a national park with untouched nature. There are few visitors here, as the island is accessible by only a few ferries and private vehicles are prohibited.

Hiking around the island will allow you to enjoy the scenery as it was thousands of years ago. Local inhabitants, such as the symbolic albino donkeys, add to the wildlife atmosphere, and sandy coves such as Cala Giordano enchant visitors with their authenticity.

No less impressive is the town of Sennori, located in a natural amphitheater of hills above the sea. This 1000-year-old town offers an immersive experience in Sardinian culture, particularly during the summer environmental festivals and music events. Sennori is also an ideal place to get acquainted with the Nuragic culture that existed on the island before the arrival of the Romans.
