Kharkiv's Kamila Konotop (weight category up to 59 kg) has won a gold medal at the European Weightlifting Championships, which are currently taking place in Sofia. The 22-year-old Ukrainian lifted 105 kg in the snatch and 125 kg in the clean and jerk. The total value of 230 kg allowed our compatriot to become the absolute champion.
Konotop was 15 kg ahead of the second-place winner, Frenchwoman Dora Chacunte. Saara Retulainen from Finland took third place (214 kg).

For Konotop, the victory in Bulgaria was the third gold medal of the continental championship in her career. The Ukrainian weightlifter triumphed in 2021 and 2023. In 2022, Konotop settled for a silver medal at the European Championships.
