Flight attendant Henny Lim, who works for Cebu Pacific in the Philippines, has revealed why airline staff take a "locking position" during takeoff and landing. Airline employees sit on their hands with their palms up.

Lim revealed the real reason in her TikTok video. The video currently has over 32 thousand views.

As it turned out, the "fixing position" is observed by all personnel to reduce the risk of injury in the event of an emergency. "This position involves securely fastening the seat belt, sitting upright, always with your hands palms up. Feet should be on the floor," the author of the video explained.

"The goal is to keep the body in a rigid position so that in the event of an unplanned emergency, the body will suffer less damage," the flight attendant added.
