First in the season: Ukraine wins a medal at the Biathlon World Cup
Ukrainian biathlete Khrystyna Dmytrenko has won a bronze medal at the 2024 European Championships that are currently taking place in Slovakia. Our compatriot brought the country its first award of the new season by reaching the podium in the sprint race of the continental championship.
The 24-year-old from Chernihiv demonstrated perfect shooting on both firing lines, knocking out 10 targets out of 10. In this aspect, she showed the fourth best result among all the participants of the race.
In addition, Khrystyna demonstrated a high speed on the 7.5-kilometer track. The Ukrainian was especially successful in the final sector.
Dmytrenko had the 14th starting number and held the first place for a long time. However, the Ida Lien and Maren Kirkeeide, who took to the track after the first hundred participants, managed to push our biathlete to third place.
The final victory was celebrated by Lien, who was 19 seconds ahead of her compatriot and 35.3 seconds ahead of Dmytrenko. Thus, Khrystyna became the first representative of Ukraine to reach the prize zone of this biathlon season.
