In the occupied Oleshky, Kherson region, in early 2024, a 68-year-old civilian was shot dead by a Russian invader. Ukrainian law enforcement officers have identified the 27-year-old war criminal as a resident of Rostov-on-Don, and a serviceman of the "Kherson" detachment of the private military company "Redoubt."
Sufficient evidence has been collected and the pre-trial investigation is complete. The mercenary of the aggressor country faces life imprisonment, the press service of the Kherson Regional National Police reported on its official website.
Law enforcement officers discovered information about the murder of a Ukrainian while monitoring Telegram channels.
During the investigation, it was found that on January 10, 2024, three representatives of the Russian military forces were walking down the street of the temporarily occupied city after 3 p.m. One of the invaders made several chaotic shots from an automatic weapon. A 68-year-old man came out at the sound of the shots.
For unknown reasons, the drunken occupier, who had fired before, pointed his weapon at the civilian and opened fire. He made at least six shots. After that, representatives of the aggressor country's army left the scene of the crime.
A mercenary of the "Redoubt" PMC was served a notice of suspicion in absentia of violating Part 2 of Article 438 of the Criminal Code (violation of the laws and customs of war, combined with premeditated murder).
The indictment has already been approved by the regional prosecutor's office and sent to court. For his actions, the Russian faces imprisonment (10 to 15 years) or life imprisonment.
