The Biathlon World Championships, which are taking place in the Czech Republic these days, featured a women's sprint. Khrystyna Dmytrenko showed the best result among Ukrainian women, finishing in 12th place.

For the 24-year-old native of Chernihiv, this was a career record, on par with her performances at the World Cup and World Championships. Khrystyna perfectly held two firing lines, which was the key to such a high place.

Commenting on her success, the Ukrainian did not hold back her emotions, admitting that her goal at the World Cup was to get into the top 20.

"I am very glad that I managed to do it at the World Championships. But on the last lap I did very poorly. I started out fast, but on the last lap, from the first meters, I was cut down. I thought, "Shit, I need to at least keep the pace." It was very hard to cover every meter of the course. The fans, coaches, were giving me tips, cheering me on. I'm very happy," Dmytrenko said on Suspilne.Sport.

The rest of the Ukrainian national team, except for Iryna Petrenko, finished outside the top twenty.

The day before, the French women's biathlon team became the first team in history to take the first four places in the World Cup race in the 21st century.

As a reminder, on January 26, Dmytrenko won a bronze medal at the 2024 European Championships, which are currently taking place in Slovakia. Our compatriot brought the country the first award of the new season by reaching the podium in the sprint race of the continental championship.
