Ukraine's goalkeeper Andrii Lunin does not give up hope of ousting his Belgian rival Thibaut Courtois from the Real Madrid squad. Our compatriot noted that he was pleased with the extension of his contract with the Spanish superclub, which took place in mid-September.

Lunin said this in a commentary to reporters after the Champions League match with French side Lille, Marca reports. According to the 25-year-old goalkeeper, the club showed respect for him by offering improved terms of cooperation. In addition, the Ukrainian emphasized that he only admires Courtois.

"My extension is a gesture of trust on the part of the club in me. From the first day, I said that this is my dream club. No one will give you anything for nothing, and everyone has seen what I can do. I can be number one here and I will continue to fight for my position with all my might. With respect to Courtois," Lunin said.

According to media reports, despite signing a new contract, the Ukrainian goalkeeper intends to leave Real Madrid next summer.
