The online publication Eurogamer, dedicated to computer games, stated that the game S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl, developed by the Ukrainian company GSC Game World, allegedly contains "small glimpses of Ukrainian nationalism". The author of the article, Brendan Caldwell, said that he came to this conclusion because of the flag's color on a matchbox.

The reviewer also saw signs of "nationalism" in a field of poppies. This is stated in the corresponding article on the Eurogamer website.

Caldwell stated that S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl was released in the midst of a full-scale war in Ukraine. At the same time, he added that the first-person shooter "doesn't assault the player with overt references to that ongoing conflict".

The author seems to be outraged by a Ukrainian flag on a matchbox. Caldwell also did not like a field of poppies, which, in his opinion, "mark the eerie resting spot of fallen soldiers."

"In the end, there are far fewer references to Europe's geopolitical nightmare than there are glitches and bugs," the author of the article said.

Brendan Caldwell claim to have 13 years of experience in writing articles, but his page on the Eurogamer website has only two texts. He wrote his first article back in 2011 and now, 13 years later, he decided to target Stalker 2.

Ukrainians reacted harshly to the review complaining about "nationalism". Some called the author of the article an idiot, saying that this is the only "problematic" thing about the game.

Ukrainians also ridiculed the author, noting that now everyone who has a box of matches with the colors of the Ukrainian flag automatically becomes a nationalist. At the same time, Ukrainians emphasized that there is nothing wrong with nationalism.

Others suggested replacing the yellow and blue matchboxes with a picture of Kremlin on fire. Some wondered why the author of the article did not criticize the image of the Ukrainian coat of arms on a PDA on the game's map.

As a reminder, the release of the Ukrainian game Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl started at 18:00 Kyiv time on November 20. One million copies were sold only in a day and a half.

Earlier, it was reported that Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl got an impressive start on Steam. According to SteamDB, more than 113 thousand people were playing the game at the time of launch .
