Dishes from the USSR, the recipes of which everyone wants to forget
In the Soviet Union, food supplies were often interrupted. Therefore, the most popular dishes of that time had to be prepared with the simplest ingredients.
After the collapse of the USSR, most of these dishes became a thing of the past. Nowadays, only a few people cook them, but millions still remember their taste. FoodOboz decided to recall the dishes of those times, the recipes of which everyone wants to forget.
Milk soup
A dish consisting of only three ingredients, namely pasta, milk, and sugar. Boiled pasta was poured with hot milk, and sugar was used to adjust the flavor of the dish. It was often eaten for breakfast.
Soup with sprat in tomato
Sprat in tomato was used as an appetizer as well as a first course. The recipe for this soup is as simple as possible: Sprat in tomato and water were added to a pot. The mixture was to be boiled until the fish started to cook. After that, potatoes, carrots, and onions were added.
Semolina porridge
It's a dish that has no nutritional value, but it was very popular in those days. It was often served for breakfast in schools and kindergartens. As a rule, it was cooked with water or with milk diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio.
Cutlets without meat
During the Soviet era, meat was in short supply. That's why cutlets were made without adding it. A lot of bread, carrots, and onions were used to make them. Sometimes meat was added, but not of the first freshness. In such cases, the cutlets also included a lot of spices and vinegar to overcome the unpleasant taste of the dish.
