Life-threatening conditions: men's sprint kicked off at the 4th stage of the Biathlon World Cup. Ukrainians' results
The fourth stage of the Biathlon World Cup kicked off in Oberhof, Germany, facing major problems. Due to warm weather and rains, the track proved to be dangerous for the athletes' lives, as Norwegian Johannes Tignes Bøgh said before the sprint.
The climatic conditions significantly affected the course of the 10-kilometer race. Few athletes managed to pass the firing lines without missing a shot.
There were no Ukrainians among the lucky ones. The best among our compatriots was 20-year-old Vitalii Mandzin, who took 31st place. On the eve of the start in Oberhof, the Ternopil resident admitted that he had never experienced what is happening at competitions in Germany.
The winner of the sprint was German Benedikt Doll, who covered the course in 24 minutes and 12 seconds. The second place went to Norwegian Sturla Holm Laegreid, who lost less than two seconds to the winner. Another representative of Norway, Endre Stroemsheim, took the bronze medal.
