Cristiano Ronaldo's "Act of the Century" at Asian Champions League match garnered 1 million views in 24 hours. Video
The famous striker of the Arabian Al-Nasr, Cristiano Ronaldo, performed a noble act in the match of the 5th round of the Asian Champions League against Persepolis from Iran. The 38-year-old Portuguese footballer, after falling in someone else's penalty area, asked to cancel the penalty awarded by the referee.
In the 2nd minute of the match, Ronaldo was knocked down in close proximity to the Iranian goal, after which the referee pointed to the 11-meter mark. The Persepolis players rushed to the referee with indignant claims, assuring him that there had been no violation. Unexpectedly, Cristiano joined them, showing that the penalty was awarded unfairly.
As a result, the referee canceled the kick, which cost Al Nasr the victory. The match ended with a score of 0:0.
The video garnered about 1 million views in a day on social media. Fans made a flurry of enthusiastic comments in the comments section, calling Ronaldo's "fair play of the century."
It's worth noting that football fans recalled Ronaldo's other act when he was awarded an unfair 11-meter penalty in the game between Real Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk. In September 2015, at the Champions League match of the 1st round, his shot was deflected by Darijo Srna's back. The referee gave a penalty kick, which Cristiano converted.
